I’m from Poland, but my life is now mainly in Berlin. I’m often in Hamburg, visiting family and taking photos. I like travelling and, while I value the comfort of a warm nest, sometimes you need to catch the wind in your sails. In the summer, I like spending time with my girlfriend in Garbicz on the Polish side of the border. We have a summer cabin there and keep a garden. We’re both interested in permaculture. We care about living sustainably. We buy old ceramics and surround ourselves with beautiful things. We also have wonderful friends and love swimming in the lake (even at winter time).

For over five years I ran my own art photography studio, Matówka (focusing screen), in my hometown of Bydgoszcz, Poland. It was a fairly unusual place for that city.

At that time, I was completely immersed in analogue photography, which I still value the most. I became known mostly for my fine art nude and portrait work. For me, and for the women who posed for me, it was never about nudity. It was about discovering beauty, working through insecurities and cultural expectations.

What drove me then was not the images themselves, but what my models told me afterwards – that those pictures helped them finally see their own beauty. And beauty, I believe, lives in diversity.

Ever since I picked up my very first camera more than 20 years ago – a Soviet‑made Smena 8M – I’ve only been without it in my nightmares. Even when I wasn’t working as a photographer, the camera was always with me. In between, I worked many seasons in Switzerland on a vineyard, caring for the vines and helping to make wine. I’ve even start with my friends a construction company that built straw‑bale houses. I loved the most to lay clay plasters. And sometimes, I would just disappear into the forest, trying to make sense of the howling of wolves.

I translate my artistic experience into commercial photography work. I really enjoy collaborating with people who have a clear vision and passion. I also like working with those who value high quality and don’t take the easy way out.

I like photography because it gives me a way to capture truth. Not the “Instagram truth” of filters and endless corrections, but something that actually stays with you. Natural light has always been more important to me than artificial setups. From analogue photography I learned patience – each frame demanded time and attention. Even today, I still spend long moments looking through the viewfinder before pressing the shutter.

My photographs are often described as intimate. Maybe because before I start taking pictures, I like to spend time in conversation, getting to know the person and their world. Sometimes that person is a chef, perfecting dishes over the years. Sometimes a ceramicist, building a universe out of clay. And sometimes just someone who suddenly realizes that their small rituals and passions can be something.
